Are you a terrorist?

DOJ Funded Training Manual Lists Bumper Stickers As Terrorism

People who have a political opinion that “represents a fairly popular point of view” also listed as extremists
Paul Joseph Watson

A leaked training manual used in the State and Local Anti-Terrorism Training (SLATT) program for law enforcement and funded by the Department of Justice lists political bumper stickers expressing opposition to the United Nations and support for the bill of rights as indications of terrorist activity.

The presentation documents, leaked to the Public Intelligence website, are entitled Terrorism Training For Law Enforcement and are marked “law enforcement sensitive.” The program is funded by grants from the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance.

Slides for the presentation depict the kind of behavior that law enforcement officials should be wary of in spotting potential terrorists during highway patrols.

One of the slides – entitled “Fourth Amendment Issues” – notes that “a suspicious map located on the passenger seat” could warrant further investigation as a potential indicator of terrorism.

Another slide entitled “General Right Wing Extremist” – depicts suspicious bumper stickers that should warrant further investigation by cops conducting traffic stops.

The bumper stickers read, “Know Your Rights Or Lose Them,” and “If You Love Your Country, the U.N. Is Not Your Friend!,” and “Get US Out Of the United Nations”.

Under the category of “Special-Interest/Single Issue Terrorism,” the slide characterizes people who hold political opinions that “represent a fairly popular point of view” as terrorists. Anti-abortion activists are also listed as terrorists under this category.

Another slide lists people who are “antigenetic engineering” as terrorists. Presumably, that includes people who are concerned about a new study which found that rats fed with genetically-engineered Monsanto corn suffered premature deaths.

Apparently, the Department of Justice considers Americans who have a good grasp of the bill of rights, are concerned about the food they eat, those who politically oppose the United Nations, and even those who hold “fairly popular” opinions, to be likely terrorists. Perhaps the DOJ is drawing inspiration from the Department of Defense, who in 2009 characterized the First Amendment right to protest as “low level terrorism”.

These documents are by no means the only instance in which displaying political bumper stickers has been characterized as a suspicious and potentially terrorist activity by the federal government.

The infamous 2009 MIAC report, published by the Missouri Information Analysis Center and first revealed by Infowars, framed Ron Paul supporters, libertarians, people who display bumper stickers, people who own gold, or even people who fly a U.S. flag, as potential terrorists.

Under the FBI’s Communities Against Terrorism program, the bulk purchase of food is also labeled as a potential indication of terrorist activity, as is using cash to pay for a cup of coffee, and showing an interest in web privacy when using the Internet in a public place.

A recent Department of Homeland Security-funded study produced by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland characterizes Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority,” and “reverent of individual liberty” as “extreme right-wing” terrorists.

Given that the DHS is now recruiting citizen spies to report “suspicious activity” via apps on their smartphones, don’t be surprised to see SWAT teams being called out to Starbucks on a regular basis to apprehend terrorists who choose to pay for their cup of joe with a few dollar bills.

One can only imagine what kind of response would be generated by someone paying cash for a cup of coffee whoalso has a political bumper sticker displayed on their car – the President would obviously have to be immediately notified in order to prepare for the enactment of emergency crisis procedures in order to safeguard national security.

Percy Bysshe Shelley’s famous poem, “Mask of Anarchy,” gave us the name for this site. The poem is a powerful call to action for the oppressed and exploited of the world to organize together against tyranny and injustice, which we feel well expresses our own motivation for collecting the resources in this site:

Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number –
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you –
Ye are many – they are few.

There are so many voices and so many struggles scattered across the planet (and the internet). We are attempting to gather these voices “in unvanquishable number” into a site that can offer a platform and, we hope, inspiration for action. The obstacles activists face today, like those faced by workers and the oppressed in Shelley’s day, are great. But our numbers are greater, and with solidarity and unity we can hope to begin to make changes in the systems we oppose.

This site cannot be exhaustive, and that is not our intent. We are simply trying to offer a small sampling of the best radical audio and video sources we know of. We know that the internet provides vast opportunities to share information and ideas, but we do not believe that this can replace the real actions of real people. We encourage our visitors, friends, fellow-travelers, and comrades to take inspiration from the people included here into their own struggles for justice.

The idea of this website first came from the annual Socialism conferences, packed with so many speakers and discussions and debates and our desire to share these discussions with others on a single platform. We had collected hundreds of talks and meetings over the years, but had never shared them in a coherent way. We hope you find this effort useful.

Jimmy crack corn

By Agence France-Presse
Wednesday, September 19, 2012 16:16 EDT

PARIS — France’s government on Wednesday asked a health watchdog to carry out a probe, possibly leading to EU suspension of a genetically-modified corn, after a study in rats linked the grain to cancer.

Agriculture Minister Stephane Le Foll, Ecology Minister Delphine Batho and Health and Social Affairs Minister Marisol Touraine said they had asked the National Agency for Health Safety (ANSES) to investigate the finding.

“Depending on ANSES’ opinion, the government will urge the European authorities to take all necessary measures to protect human and animal health,” they said in a joint statement.

“(The measures) could go as far as invoking emergency suspension of imports of NK603 corn to Europe pending a re-examination of this product on the basis of enhanced assessment methods.”

Earlier, French scientists led by Gilles-Eric Seralini at the University of Caen in Normandy unveiled a study that said rats fed with NK603 corn or exposed to the weedkiller used with it developed tumours.

NK603 is a corn, also called maize, made by US agribusiness giant Monsanto.

It has been engineered to make it resistant to Monsanto’s herbicide Roundup.

This enables farmers to douse fields with the weedkiller in a single go, thus offering substantial savings.

Genetically modified (GM) crops are widely grown in North America, Brazil and China but are a hot-button issue in Europe.

The study, published in the peer-reviewed journal Food and Chemical Toxicology, says it is the first to look at rats over their normal lifespan of two years.

“For the first time ever, a GM organism and a herbicide have been evaluated for their long-term impact on health, and more thoroughly than by governments or the industry,” Seralini told AFP. “The results are alarming.”

Two hundred male and female rats were split into 10 groups of 10 animals.

One was a “control” group which was given ordinary rat food that contained 33 percent non-GM corn, and plain water.

Three groups were given ordinary rat food and water with increasing doses of Roundup, reflecting various concentrations of the herbicide in the food chain.

The other six were fed rat food of which 11, 22 or 33 percent comprised NK603 corn, either treated or not with Roundup when the corn was grown.

The researchers found that NK603 and Roundup both caused similar damage to the rats’ health, whether they were consumed together or on their own.

Premature deaths and sickness were concentrated especially among females.

At the 14-month stage of experiment, no animals in the control groups showed any signs of cancer, but among females in the “treated” groups, tumours affected between 10 and 30 percent of the rodents.

“By the beginning of the 24th month, 50-80 percent of female animals had developed tumours in all treated groups, with up to three tumours per animal, whereas only 30 percent of controls were affected,” it said

Males which fell sick suffered liver damage, developed kidney and skin tumours and digestive problems.

Breaking with a long tradition in scientific journalism, the authors allowed a selected group of reporters to have access to the paper, provided they signed confidentiality agreements that prevented them from consulting other experts about the research before publication.

Asked to respond, the French unit of Monsanto said “it is too soon to make a serious comment because we have to evaluate the study. As soon as it is available, our experts will look closely at it to give their scientific assessment.”

Green groups say GM crops could be dangerous to health and the environment, although this claim has so far found no traction in large-scale studies.

The Monsanto spokesman said that “more than 300 peer-reviewed studies” had found that GM food was safe.

In 2009, the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) panel on GM organisms determined that NK603 was “as safe as conventional maize”.

“Maize NK603 and derived products are unlikely to have any adverse effect on human and animal health in the context of the intended uses,” it said, delivering a judgement based in part on a 90-day feeding study on rats.

NK603 can be imported but cannot be grown in Europe.

Only Monsanto’s MON810 transgenic corn and a gene-modified potato, Amflora, made by BASF, have authorisation for being grown in Europe.

However, Austria, Bulgaria, France, Greece, Hungary, Luxembourg and Romania have outlawed the growing of MON810 on their territory, citing the principle of precaution.

The State is an Autoimmune Disease…by Thomas L. Knapp

“Autoimmune diseases,” per the Wikipedia article on same, “arise from an inappropriate immune response of the body against substances and tissues normally present in the body. In other words, the immune system mistakes some part of the body as a pathogen and attacks its own cells.”

Analogizing from autoimmune disease to political government has its dangers — foremost among them the fact that any such analogy requires us to think of society as a sort of super-organism with its own interests separate from and superseding those of its constituent parts, people — but I don’t think the analogy is a poor one. If there really is such a thing as “the body politic,” the nation-state is to that body as lupus or multiple sclerosis is to an individual human body.

The most advanced stages of the disease are easily identifiable: Mussolini’s “everything in the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state” sums them up rather neatly.

But as with any disease, the final stages are actually the least interesting; the body is withered, doped up on painkillers, attempting to pass as gently as possible into that good night. The real action is in the painful intermediate stages of the disease — after it’s become too advanced not to notice, but while the patient might still be expected to struggle against its progression. It is at this point that we can see the true evil of the disease itself.

Which brings me to the case of freedom activist Adam Mueller, aka Ademo Freemanconvicted in New Hampshire earlier this week on “wiretapping” charges for having taped “public officials” in the conduct of their “public duties.”

While the details of Ademo’s case are certainly interesting — they highlight the increasing arrogance of state functionaries in their demands for “privacy” from scrutiny by those whom they allegedly serve — I don’t find them nearly as interesting as the fact of the verdict and what it says about the American progression of the autoimmune disease.

One bulwark of liberty versus the depredations of the state has, for several centuries now, been “jury nullification” — the inviolate power of citizen juries to acquit defendants who have clearly done no wrong, even if the letter of the state’s law demands otherwise.

In Ademo’s case, observers had good cause to believe that even if the state of New Hampshire’s technically weak case held together through trial, no panel of 12 reasonable people could plausibly vote unanimously to convict. Ademo was too clearly in the right, the state too clearly in the wrong, for conviction to happen. A hung jury was the worst-case scenario, outright acquittal a strong possibility.

And yet the jury returned a conviction, after less than an hour of deliberation.

While it’s fortunate that Ademo has been sentenced to “only” three months (of a possible 21 years) in a cage for attempting to hold “public officials” accountable, any confinement at all is still a major crime against humanity, morality and rule of law.

And that crime was committed not only by the permanent, cancerous infrastructure of the state itself, but by semi-randomly selected cells of the “body politic” — citizen jurors. This, it seems to me, is evidence that the disease has metastasized and that we are indeed approaching its final stages. Jury nullification is, in this analogy, the body politic’s lungs and their ability to take independent breath.

Or, to switch analogies to the biblical, take God’s response to Abraham’s inquiries vis a vis Sodom and Gommorah: Abraham: “Peradventure ten [righteous people] shall be found there. God: “I will not destroy it for ten’s sake.”

In Manchester on Monday, not even one righteous juror was to be found. 12 of 12 were shown to have been so corrupted by the disease of statism that they would vote to send an innocent, even heroic, individual to prison for the “crime” of exposing the disease in the body politic. And so we must consider that body politic doomed and beyond redemption.

It’s depressing. The only up side is that when the body politic dies, the state will die with it — and that the body might be able to resurrect itself minus the disease. But that doesn’t make these terminal times any easier, on Ademo or on us.

A new hope

The noose continues to tighten but no government lasts forever.

By Carl Watner

Voluntaryists have a unique outlook on government. They view the State as an invasive institution. It imposes a coercive monopoly over defense services and collects its revenues via compulsory taxation. Theodore Lowi, a professor of political science at Cornell University in the early 1980s, authored a book, INCOMPLETE CONQUEST (1981), in which he observed:

Every action and every agency of contemporary government must contribute to the fulfillment of its fundamental purpose, which is to maintain conquest. Conquest manifests itself in various forms of control, but in all those forms it is the common factor tying together in one system the behavior of courts and cops, sanitation workers and senators, bureaucrats and technocrats, generals and attorney generals, pressure groups and presidents. [p. 13]
Two of the most basic “forms of control” exercised by any government are that of demanding enrollment in its armed forces, and in collecting taxes based on one’s income and/or accumulated wealth. Perhaps conscription is the State’s most direct control over your life, but its ability to tax ultimately destroys the principle of private ownership. Everything you think you “own” is really held subject to its pleasure. It is as though you are a slave and your master allows you to retain certain perks.

In my article, “The Chickens Come Home to Roost – The Master Plan for ‘Tightening the Noose'” (Issue 48, February 1991), I referred to the late Fred Rowe, who wrote an article for his House of Onyx publication entitled “The IRS Electronic Monster.” Rowe set forth his predictions about the future state of economic freedoms in these United States. He described what he called an IRS “master plan” under which the United States government would push toward the creation of a cashless society. Electronic money would take the place of banknotes, and all financial transactions would be recorded via computers, which in turn would be connected to those of the IRS. The tax bureaucracy would then take this information and render every citizen and resident of the United States a tax return. Withholding on all income from your labor, and on all major financial transactions, such as the sale of real estate and investments, would enable the government to collect taxes on a mostly “pay-as-you-go” basis. Such computer transparency would also make it very difficult for tax resisters to escape the government’s clutching hand.

Whether or not such a conspiratorial master plan was ever hatched by government bureaucrats, the unceasing efforts of government to take control of its citizens’ property have continued unabated. Some of the steps in this never-ending battle for conquest and control have been:

…requirements that most people born in the United States have government-issued birth certificates;
…passage of the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution authorizing Congress to tax income;
…requirements that a government social security number be used in conjunction with all large financial transactions and in filing tax returns;
…reporting all domestic cash transactions of $ 3,000 or more to the U.S. Treasury
…attempting to require that payments to individuals of $ 600 or more be reported via 1099 Forms to the Internal Revenue Service;
…requirements to report to the U.S. Treasury and/or U.S. Customs movements of more than $ 10,000 cash and certain other negotiable instruments to and from the U.S.
…requirement that applicants provide a social security number on passport applications, and upon refusal being fined $ 500 by the Internal Revenue Service;
…requirements to report the existence of foreign-held bank accounts and foreign-held assets;
…requirement that anyone renouncing their U.S. citizenship for reasons of avoiding U.S. taxes be liable for U.S. taxes for the 10 years following their renunciation;
…requirement that all employers within the United States verify the eligibility of prospective hires, who, of course, must have a government social security number; [see “Countdown to Extinction,” THE VOLUNTARYIST No. 68, June 1994, page 3 for further information]
Now the government is working out some new regulations that affect both our property and our bodies. The Obama care health care legislation mandates that most people in the United States purchase health insurance or pay a penalty. Its constitutionality has been argued before the Supreme Court. Increasingly, doctors are no longer able to abide by the Hippocratic Oath because third-party payers (mostly the government through Medicare and Medicaid, but also insurance companies) make health decisions for their patients. It is no longer between the doctor and patient to determine what is the best treatment. The decision is up to the party paying for that treatment. Furthermore, physicians have been ordered “to adopt electronic health records or face economic sanctions from Medicare.” The Federal Commission for the Coordination of Comparative Effectiveness Research will determine the “most-cost effective way of allocating a fixed amount of resources among” the U.S. population. [See “Notable & Quotable,” THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, March 17-18, 2012, p. A13]

The government is also tightening the regulations surrounding the ownership of foreign bank accounts and the reporting of assets held abroad. For all practical purposes there has never been any financial or banking privacy in the United States. Currently the governments of the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom have joined together in cooperation to intensify their efforts to combat international tax evasion. On March 10, 2010, the United States enacted the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). This legislation introduced reporting requirements for foreign financial institutions (FFIs). Many banks headquartered abroad are required to identify U.S. account holders, report certain information to the IRS about their accounts, and assess a 30% withholding tax on certain payments of U.S. source income to recalcitrant account holders or non-participating FFIs that are unwilling to provide the necessary information. In short, great pressure is being brought to bear on banks that are not subject to U.S. jurisdiction to subjugate them to IRS regulations. Some foreign banks, particularly those in Switzerland, have decided to terminate their account relationships with U.S. citizens so as to avoid these entanglements with U.S. law.

All this is reminiscent of what Nazi Germany did to its citizens in the years before World War II. Consider these National Socialist laws:

The decisive sign that the Nazis had turned their sights on the assets of Germans abroad was the law against economic sabotage enacted in December 1936. In part this was aimed at enticing Germans to repatriate their foreign nest-eggs: those prepared to admit they had assets abroad could keep a third of them after they handed over the remaining two-thirds to the Reichsbank, … ‘Any German national who knowingly and having as a motive acts against the law in transferring assets abroad or keeps them abroad and thereby damages the German economy is punished with death’.”[Nicholas Faith, SAFETY IN NUMBERS: THE MYSTERIOUS WORLD OF SWISS BANKING, New York: The Viking Press, 1982, pp. 83-84]

[P]ursuant to the Decree on the Registration of the Property of the Jews of April 26, 1938, all Jews were required to value all their assets (foreign and domestic) and register them if their value was in excess of RM 5,000. [“Expropriation (Aryanization) of Jewish Property,” General, Holocaust/expropriation]
As reported in THE WALL STREET JOURNAL on April 6, 2012 [p. A9], “hiding money in [tax] havens isn’t as easy as it used to be.” The U.S. Congress has “passed laws imposing draconian penalties on people hiding foreign financial assets.” How do the following U.S. government regulations compare to those of Nazi Germany?

A person who holds a foreign financial account may have a reporting obligation even though the account produces no taxable income. … The FBAR (Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts) is not filed with the filer’s federal income tax return. [From Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR) page on the internet]

The principal purpose for collecting the information [required by Department of the Treasury Form TD F 90-22.1 – “Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts”] is to assure maintenance of reports where such reports or records have a high degree of usefulness in criminal, tax, or regulatory investigations or proceedings. … Disclosure of this information is mandatory. Civil and criminal penalties, including in certain circumstances a fine of not more than $ 500,000 and imprisonment of not more than five years, are provided for failure to file a report, supply information, and for filing a false or fraudulent report. Disclosure of the Social Security number is mandatory. [From TD F 90-22.1, 2nd paragraph of the “Privacy Act and Paperwork Reduction Act Note.”]
The Internal Revenue Service also has other reporting requirements to be found in Part III (Foreign Accounts and Trusts) of Schedule B, Form 1040, as well as on Form 8938, Statement of Specified Foreign Financial Assets. A news report of August 3, 2011 demonstrates that the IRS means business. Robert E. Greely, who “pleaded guilty to filing a false U.S. tax return that concealed more than $ 13 million in two Swiss” bank accounts, “agreed to pay a civil penalty of $ 6.8 million for failing to file a Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Account form.” [“Former UBS Client Greely Admits to Hiding More than $ 13 Million From IRS by David Voreacos; citing U.S. v. Greely, 11-cr-374, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California (San Francisco)]

Why exactly are such assets of concern to the federal government, and why is the “failure to report” foreign assets a crime if it is not illegal to own them? The answer is to be found in the invasive nature of government. Governments demand obedience to their rules and regulations, whatever they may be. Governments also have an insatiable appetite for tax revenues. And furthermore, many governments have a record of confiscating the known assets of their citizens. Although the United States government has never required surrender of assets held abroad, it did confiscate all gold coins and gold bullion in 1933, and outlawed the ownership of gold by American citizens regardless of where it was located. But why would a citizen break the laws of the United States? An American might have several reasons. A person might be a conscientious objector against taxation. A citizen might think that foreign assets would be safe from seizure by the American government because they are outside its domestic jurisdiction. The citizen might also think that having assets abroad would provide a nest egg in case of the need to live abroad. Having foreign assets might provide a means to escape from government agents. During the Nazi era, how many German dissidents or German Jews would have been grateful to have had money outside of Germany, and how much easier would it have then been to leave Germany and escape the Gestapo?

There have been numerous books and articles comparing Nazi Germany and the United States of America. Leonard Peikoff”s 1982 book, THE OMINOUS PARALLELS, was subtitled “the end of freedom in America.” Naomi Wolf’s more recent publication, THE END OF AMERICA (2007) highlighted “the ten key steps that would-be despots take” when they assume control of a country. These include many that have already occurred in the Untied States:

…invoking the threat of internal and/or external dangers;
…establishing secret prisons where torture takes place;
…building paramilitary forces;
…creating a surveillance apparatus aimed at ordinary citizens;
…infiltrating citizen groups and organizations in an effort to disrupt their activities;
…arbitrarily arresting and detaining citizens and aliens;
…targeting key individuals who criticize the government and destroying their reputations;
…censoring and restricting the press;
…disparaging criticism of the government as “espionage” and dissent as “treason;”
…subverting the rule of law by ignoring constitutional provisions and due process.
No one can foretell how far these trends will affect the future, but they seem to reflect Carroll Quigley’s 1966 prediction: Man’s “freedom and choice will be controlled within very narrow alternatives by the fact that he will be numbered from birth and followed, as a number, through his educational training, his required military or other public service, his tax contributions, his health and medical requirements, and his final retirement and death benefits.” [p. 866] That is the tragic part of the prediction in his book’s title, TRAGEDY AND HOPE.

The hopeful part is reflected in what we can observe from history. No government lasts forever. The Nazi 1000 Year Reich was gone in less than two decades. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics lasted less than 100 years. In western Europe, after the Roman empire disappeared, Quigley observes that by 900 A.D. there was clearly a period “when there was no empire, no state, and no public authority … . The state disappeared, yet society continued. … It was discovered that man can live without a state; … . It was discovered that economic life, religious life, law, and private property can all exist and function effectively without a state.” [p. 83] Every generation faces natural and political challenges. Despite the tightening of the political noose, our own times are not unique. Some problems are more daunting than others, but life goes on. As Robert LeFevre used to say, the free man will find a way to be free.

Nature itself is the beautiful expression of order and balance arising out of chaos. Time and time again, nature has demonstrated its ability to naturally grow this order and peace out of the random noise that makes its very basis. The myth of true order comes from human attempts to impose it where it does not naturally occur. While there may be order, its cause is incorrectly perceived.

By definition, imposed order is unstable. It must be forcibly maintained in order to continue to exist. People are as a whole intelligent enough to devise such structures but not intelligent enough to override our most fundamental sense of natural order. As a whole, our species’ attempt to engineer its own order has been slowly successful. We created kingdoms, handing ourselves to a monarch. This is an extreme deviation from natural order, because there are in that case only a handful of people globally who matter. It leaves the commoner entirely outside the global order. Out of our natural human desire to move towards natural order, we devised a new structure of governments commonly known as republics. These were closer to something which we could naturally live at ease with. The commoner, despite not having a direct say in the larger global order was in some way involved, or at least believed this to be so. More recently, through the rapid development of communications technologies which allow any one commoner’s voice to find itself suddenly amplified and repeated around the world in moments we have grown into an entirely new method of global order. As trivial as much of the social networking conversation is, through social networking borders have fallen, lines have blurred, and a kind of collective consciousness representing its participants equally has arisen from it. However, we find ourselves in a unique situation. The people have moved on from the easily corruptible pseudo-free societies of the past, yet the forces enforcing those societies have attempted to simply ignore this transition. Through force, violence, and illegitimate law which passed without the consent of the commoner, they have attempted to extinguish the phoenix, the collective society which has arisen from the ashes of the republics.

Government by definition creates order, whether natural or imposed. A government exists within the borders of some defined region, and exists to represent the people of that region. Therefore, by definition the only possible government is that which exists by the consent of those who represent the people. A government which is operating without that consent is no longer a valid government. It is a criminal enterprise which exists to serve only itself. It in this case has moved from an entity which serves and fears the people to an entity which is served by and is feared by the people. For the people to accept such a criminal takeover of their land is a violation of their core drives, it is a violation of the natural progression from imposed global order towards natural order on a global scale. In the case where a criminal takeover has occurred, it is not only the natural right, but the obligation of that region’s people to raise themselves in great numbers against that criminal enterprise which seeks to exploit them. Fundamental human dignity demands it unambiguously. It is unfortunate, but an unavoidable conclusion that yesterday’s republics have on a grand scale violated their purpose and made the transition from representatives of the people towards criminal slave enterprise which holds the people in bondage, extracting value and joy from them, forever unhappy with their current holdings. The organs and systems which we the people devised not long ago to serve and represent us have been hijacked by a select few individuals, making the commoner irrelevant despite numerous legal guarantees and protections against this. The methods used in these criminal takeovers vary and are too numerous to list in the context of this document, but they are well documented by many members of the newly arisen collective consciousness.

There are many and varied voices which have erupted from captivity which suggest methods by which we the people can reclaim our rightful place as our own rulers and each other’s subject at once. In order to reclaim our human dignity and make progress towards natural order, a collective state where the people live in harmony with one another in naturally organized chaos, it is useful to examine the birth of the republics which today have become something grotesque and unrecognizable. Attempt after attempt was made to force monarchs to dictate the will of their subjects, but these attempts were made in ignorance of the fact that the very nature and structure of the kingdoms was not compatible with what the people desired. Facing a global order which could not advance any farther and had reached the end of its useful lifespan, individuals began to realize the increasingly undeniable fact that an entirely new order had to be devised to replace the old kingdoms. We have reached a similar point today. Society’s process of collective consciousness and consensus has advanced beyond the point that the republics can follow. In response to this, a select few have hijacked the republics in order to bring them backwards while the people march forwards. As difficult as it is to accept, the time has indeed come to tearfully say goodbye to the republics. They are artifacts of a beautiful age, yet in their age have become irrelevant to the progress of society, and in fact have become a snarling, grotesque weight which fights progress at every turn.

The form of the global order’s replacement is not mine to decide. It is not yours, it is not your neighbor’s. The global order’s form is for the globe to decide collectively. For this reason, my identity will not be disclosed. I will present no idea for the future’s form other than the fact that society has advanced beyond the point where the republics can exist in their current form. Go forth, and reclaim your dignity. If you fear the republics, imagine this. You are no longer represented in the republics. Therefore, their laws, their edicts, their decrees have no legitimate authority over you. They are just as illegitimate as if I attempted to dictate the terms of your life from behind my keyboard. They have become little more than bullies with guns, and if there is anything the Arab Spring has taught us, it is that guns are utterly useless against an idea.

A passage from “mother earth”. vol.1 no.4 1906

“No one considers a thief the patron saint of honesty, nor is a liar expected to champion the truth. The hangman is not elected as president of a society for the preservation of human life;                         why, then, in the name of common sense, do people continue to see in the State the seat of justice and the patron saint of those whom it wrongs and outrages daily?

     If people would only look closer into the elements of the State, they would soon behold this trinity: the thief, the liar, and the hangman.”

Seeger, Guthrie join Wall Street protest

By CRISTIAN SALAZAR, Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — Folk music legend Pete Seeger and ’60s folk singer Arlo Guthrie joined Occupy Wall Street demonstrators Friday in their campaign against corporate greed while residents near the protest park encampment pushed to regain some peace and quiet in their neighborhood.

Seeger joined in the Occupy Wall Street protest Friday night, replacing his banjo with two canes as he marched with throngs of people in New York City’s tony Upper West Side past banks and shiny department stores.

The 92-year-old Seeger, accompanied by musician-grandson Tao Rodriguez Seeger, composer David Amram, and bluesman Guy Davis, shouted out the verses of protest anthems as the crowd of about 1,000 people sang and chanted.

They marched peacefully over more than 30 blocks from Symphony Space, where the Seegers and other musicians performed, to Columbus Circle. Police watched from the sidelines.

Occupy Wall Street began a month ago in lower Manhattan among a few young people, and has grown to tens of thousands around the country and the world. A recent Associated Press-GfK poll says more than one-third of the country supports the Wall Street protesters, and even more — 58 percent — say they are furious about America’s politics.

But the encampment at Zuccotti Park has become more than a tolerable nuisance, some neighborhood residents say. At a meeting Thursday, they complained of protesters urinating in the streets and beating drums in the middle of the night. Some called for the protesters to vacate the park.

The area’s community board voted unanimously for a resolution that recognized the protesters’ First Amendment rights while calling for a crackdown on noise and public urination and defecation.

U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and state Sen. Daniel Squadron said in a statement that the resolution was "an attempt to establish a sensible framework that respects the protesters’ fundamental rights while addressing the very real quality of life concerns for residents and businesses around Zuccotti Park."

Asked about Occupy Wall Street on WOR Radio on Friday, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the protesters’ leaderless structure has made it difficult to negotiate with them.

Occupy Wall Street spokesman Han Shan, who has served as a liaison between protesters and local elected officials, agreed the protesters needed to be better neighbors. Shan, who attended the meeting, promised to limit the noise.

At Columbus Circle, Seeger and friends walked to the chant of "We are the 99 percent" and "We are unstoppable; another world is possible." Seeger stopped to bang a metal statue of an elephant with his cane — to cheers from the crowd.

At the center of the plaza, Seeger and Amram were joined by Guthrie in a round of "We Shall Overcome," a protest anthem made popular by Seeger.

After more singing, Seeger asked for a mic check to tell the crowd: "The words are simple: I could be happy spending my days on the river that flows both way-ay-ays."

During the march, the younger Seeger, in troubadour fashion like his grandfather, walked among the protesters playing songs. Amra took up a flute and others enlivened the night protest with the sounds of the accordion, banjos, and guitars.

At the front of the throng, marchers held American flags and a large blue flag that said: "Revolution Generation … Debt is Slavery." Along the way, the crowd sang protest songs made popular or written by Seeger, Woody Guthrie, and others of the protest era.

“The power of the 99%” From Peoples World

october 14 2011

A new social movement is rising up in our country out of years of outrage, heartbreak, pain and anger at trying to make ends meet while CEOs and billionaires whistle all the way to the bank.

The extreme wealth gap has locked young people out of the promise of the American Dream for a good education and a decent job in a sustainable future, and consigned children to poverty.

“We are the 99%” “Tax the Rich” and “Jobs Not Cuts” are rallying cries that can be heard from Wall Street to K Street and in public squares from coast to coast.

At the Take Back the American Dream conference held in Washington, D.C. this month, a multi-racial gathering of grass roots folks from Wisconsin and Ohio, Montana and Oklahoma, Arizona and Alabama and all parts of the country hammered out their priorities, embraced Occupy Wall Street and wove together the largest social movement in recent times to Rebuild the Dream.

The impact of this movement on the 2012 elections can determine the future direction of our country. Will decades of corporate-driven policies aimed at limiting the role of government and leaving people “on your own” be rejected? Or will extreme, reactionary anti-union, racist, dog-eat-dog policies have their day?

Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., echoed many others at the conference when she said, “Our country is at a crossroads, and we are at the frontline of a battle for our future. Our agenda is patriotic, true and practical. It is supported by the majority in the country. We need to inspire participation everywhere”.

The newly born American Dream Movement includes MoveOn with five million members, the AFL-CIO with 12.2 million members, SEIU with 2.1 million members, U.S. Student Association representing over four million students at 400 campuses, the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights including over 200 organizations, and many long-standing women’s, immigrant rights, LGBT, peace, environment and pro-democracy groups.

This movement emerges out of the epic battles in Wisconsin and Ohio to preserve union rights and collective bargaining for workers. It emerges out of an intensive summer of organizing and pressure on members of Congress for jobs not cuts, including the Congressional Black Caucus and Congressional Progressive Caucus jobs hearings and listening tours, and the roll out of the Contract for the American Dream.

A dramatic new dimension was added in September when anger at the bailouts of financial institutions who then foreclosed home mortgages and laid off workers erupted into Occupy Wall Street spreading to many hundreds of cities and towns.

“These are challenging and controversial times,” said Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., ” The Tea Party in Congress is playing with democracy. Our movement is about taking back democracy.”

Instead of being intimidated by the charge of “class warfare” the new movement understands that it is vicious corporate class warfare that the people of the country are up against.

“Bring it on,” said AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka to a roar of applause. “We are facing pain, loss and reversal of progress. We the people are angry,” he said placing the challenge, “Where will the anger go? Extremism? Or to build a future?”

Trumka called for “a massive movement for jobs to turn the country right side up,” saying, “What unites us is so much greater than anything that divides us.”

The Contract for the American Dream reflects what a majority of people in the country support according to polls: large scale job creation to put people to work and meet community needs, funded by taxing the rich, ending the wars and bringing the money back to aid municipalities.

“These are majority opinions,” declared Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., “Get into every nook and cranny of the countryside and organize.”

While alienation from the entire political system is often expressed by the Occupy participants, that alienation is more specifically a rejection of the influence of money in politics and the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United establishing “corporate personhood.”

Sitting out the elections would be completely self-defeating. Without bringing the power of the movement to bear on the elections, and inspiring millions to overcome voter suppression, the vicious corporate class warfare taking place now will only get worse.

It is clear that the Republican leadership, in their quest to defeat President Barack Obama, is determined to block job creation and any other social legislation that is on the side of working people.

The American Dream Movement describes itself as “people powered independent politics for hope and change.” The conference set a goal of recruiting 2,012 American Dream candidates in the 2012 election cycle, and recruiting one million people to take on leadership responsibilities to build the movement.

Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Md., who chairs the Red to Blue Caucus expressed optimism that with a lot of hard work and sticking together, 25 seats in the House can be won and control of that body can be changed.

“Take off your high heels,” she said. “We have work to do. The bankers walked away with everything…No district must be left untouched to flip the script of the Tea Party controlling 20 percent of Congress. What’s at stake is the generation in front of us.”

The mass street action of the movement is interconnected with the elections. Each needs the other to meet the goals of standing up for the 99% against the economic divide and record inequality.

There will surely be attempts to split and divide. But sticking together, youth protesting for their right to a future, joined with the labor movement, civil rights, peace and social justice, can rescue democracy in our country. This new social movement has the capacity to take us beyond what has been possible and open the door for new dreams toward equality and people before profits.
