Percy Bysshe Shelley’s famous poem, “Mask of Anarchy,” gave us the name for this site. The poem is a powerful call to action for the oppressed and exploited of the world to organize together against tyranny and injustice, which we feel well expresses our own motivation for collecting the resources in this site:

Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number –
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you –
Ye are many – they are few.

There are so many voices and so many struggles scattered across the planet (and the internet). We are attempting to gather these voices “in unvanquishable number” into a site that can offer a platform and, we hope, inspiration for action. The obstacles activists face today, like those faced by workers and the oppressed in Shelley’s day, are great. But our numbers are greater, and with solidarity and unity we can hope to begin to make changes in the systems we oppose.

This site cannot be exhaustive, and that is not our intent. We are simply trying to offer a small sampling of the best radical audio and video sources we know of. We know that the internet provides vast opportunities to share information and ideas, but we do not believe that this can replace the real actions of real people. We encourage our visitors, friends, fellow-travelers, and comrades to take inspiration from the people included here into their own struggles for justice.

The idea of this website first came from the annual Socialism conferences, packed with so many speakers and discussions and debates and our desire to share these discussions with others on a single platform. We had collected hundreds of talks and meetings over the years, but had never shared them in a coherent way. We hope you find this effort useful.

Changing the world

Be the bomb

Good advice for politicians (and regular folk, too)

Money isn’t everything

The only possible revolution is inside us

The only way to change the world is to change yourself. Revolution is not an external thing, it’s personal. You can’t change someone else’s mind or control their actions. You can only make yourself a better person. Imagine this: if everyone became the absolute best individual that they could be, what kind of world would that create? If words like love, respect, honesty, caring, and empathy were not merely words but actions as unconscious as breathing? What heights we could reach! What fantastical things we could accomplish! Human society working together for the common good, for the benefit of all life. It is possible. The revolution is this: the conscious evolution of our fundamental way of thinking. Change your mind, change the world!

Besiege the Empire

We are the power

Change doesn’t come by voting for some closed minded politician and giving them the power to make decisions for a population that they are so obviously out of touch with and don’t care about. Outside of the fact that we are seen as cattle, pawns in their game of world domination and contributors to their retirement funds, the people are of no value or interest to the establishment. The system is broken and no amount of  “reform” will fix it. The government is a “for profit” organization that trades on the lives of its shareholders–the American people, the working class that actually provides the money and manpower to make this country the reckless, imperialistic bully that it is. This corporation needs to be dismantled, dismembered, burned to ashes, and buried in multiple graves. Maybe then we’ll possibly have a chance for redemption. The world is in a sad state. We have given our power away to entities who abuse us and lie to us  and tell us that they have our best interests at heart. It’s time to wake up and smell the bullshit. It’s time for the cattle to stampede, for the slaves to break their shackles. We are our own future. The time is now, the revolution is here! We are the power!

Change the world

“You can’t change the world
But you can change the facts
When you change the facts
You change points of view
When you change points of view
You may change a vote
When you change a vote
You may change the world”
–Depeche Mode

Raise your fists!

Raise your fists and your voices high

Let the flag of revolution fly

Fear not the forces that aim to sway

Make the stand and take the day

For in hearts and minds this battle’s won

No matter rain, no matter sun

We fight this war with liberty’s guns:

With marching feet and seditious tongues

With body and soul and with spirits ablaze

We seek the wicked system razed

As we rattle the towers and shake the halls

Tyrants will tremble under collapsing walls

Rulers will rage and rant and rail

Against the burgeoning tide to no avail

We are the wrathful storm unleashed

We are the righteous sword unsheathed

We are the nightmare from which they cower

We are the people, we are the power.

United we stand, united we win

Hand in hand with kith and kin

As a new day dawns with the rising sun

Long live the revolution!

We have just begun.
